McCall And Smith Power Sweep Of Rangers

April 22, 2008

Box Score

KENOSHA, Wis. - Junior Chris McCall had seven RBI and senior Mike Smith had six on the day in the Flyers' sweep of Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Wisconsin-Parkside on Tuesday afternoon. Lewis took the first game 12-3 and the second 8-6.

The Flyers (16-21, 10-14 GLVC) recorded 15 hits in the game one victory. McCall hit a two out three-run home run in the first inning. After the Rangers (3-31, 0-23) scored one in the top of the second, Lewis added four in the bottom half. Sophomore Ryan McManaman, who had four hits and three runs scored in game on, got an RBI on a single to score freshman Richard Forkin. Smith earned three of his five RBI of the game on a bases clearing double later in the inning.

Smith and McCall each knocked in a run in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth Smith singled to knock in a run and McCall singled to score Smith and McManaman.

Senior Adam Stabosz (3-5) went all seven innings, allowing 10 hits and three earned runs while walking none.

The Flyers got on the board with three in the first and second in game two. McCall singled for his seventh RBI of the day and senior Ryan Duran doubled to score McCall and Smith. In the second Smith, senior Bryan Druktenis and junior Tim Bingham each had an RBI.

The Flyers added one in the fifth and sixth. Wisconsin-Parkside added runs late but junior Chris Brigham (2-0) earned the victory, allowing five earned runs in eight innings of work.

Though the contests were held at Wisconsin-Parkside, the Flyers were the home team in both games as they made up a doubleheader rained out at Lewis earlier this year.

The Flyers play at Chicago State on Thursday.
