ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University head men's basketball coach Scott Trost has announced the signing of Marty Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent. Strus, a 6-foot-10 post from Stagg High School, is the third member of the Flyers' 2008-09 recruiting class. As a senior, he averaged 12.2 points and 10.1 rebounds to lead Stagg to an 18-10 record. Strus made the Southwest Suburban All-Conference team and was an all-area honorable mention in the Daily Southtown. He was selected to the all-tournament teams at the John McBride Classic and the Luther North Christmas tournament. Strus also received the 2008 Stagg Character Award. "We are very excited to have Marty join our basketball program," Trost said. "Marty's best basketball is definitely in front of him, and we look forward to him being a very good player in the GLVC. He also is an outstanding student and will make a significant contribution to the Lewis community." Strus is the third member of Trost's 2008-09 recruiting class, joining point guard Chris McClellan and post Matt Toth. The Flyers finished the 2007-08 season 20-11, reaching the 20-win plateau for just the 14th time in program history. |
