COLUMBUS, Ind. - Behind top-20 performances by senior Brian Carlson and freshman Logan Watts, the Lewis Flyers finished fifth at the 2008 Great Lakes Valley Conference Golf Championship, held Sunday through Tuesday at Otter Creek. Carlson was the only Flyer to shoot in the 70s each round. He carded 76-75-76=227 to finish 14th in the 65-golfer field. Watts (74-80-74=228) tied for 15th. Sophomore Josh Butterfield (77-72-80=229) recorded the Flyers low round of the tournament on the second day. He finished tied for 22nd overall. Junior Greg Roderique (83-73-81=237) tied for 41st, and sophomore Paul Dagys (82-74-82=238) tied for 45th. The Flyers (309-294-311=915) were fifth among the conference's 13 teams. Lewis finished ahead of Southern Indiana (915) and SIU Edwardsville (920). |
