MURRAY, Ky. - Among a field of 58, mostly Division I golfers, Lewis University sophomore Josh Butterfield tied for first to help the Flyers finish sixth at the Murray State Invitational, Monday and Tuesday at Miller Golf Course. Butterfield carded 73-71-71=215 to tie Cole Floyd of Tennessee-Martinsville for the tournament's best score. It was the fourth time in as many tournaments this fall in which Butterfield has led Lewis. Senior Brian Carlson (77-74-76=227) finished second for Lewis and tied for 29th overall. Junior Greg Roderique (80-76-77=233) and sophomore Peter Tanaka (81-75-77=233) tied for 41st, and sophomore Paul Dagys (80-74-82=236) was 49th. The Flyers (310-294-301=905) took sixth among 10 teams, setting a season best with their second-round 294. Murray State (870) finished first. The Flyers conclude their fall season at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate on Oct. 7-8. |
