ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University sophomore Josh Butterfield has earned an invite to compete as an individual at a 2008 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship super regional to be held May 5-7 at Red Hawk Run Golf Club in Findlay, Ohio. Butterfield represents one of five individual golfers selected from the Great Lakes Region. The Great Lakes and North Central regions fill out one of five super regional brackets. The Central/Great Lakes Super Regional consists of 16 teams and 10 individuals. The top team from each region within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 14-17 at the Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Houston, Texas. The finals will be hosted by Rice University and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority. Butterfield is competing in his first super regional event. He led Lewis this season with a 74.36 stroke average. He was Lewis' top finisher in eight of the team's 12 events. |
