Ryan McNeil Position: Assistant Coach

Ryan McNeil, a member of the Lewis men’s volleyball team in 1998 and 1999, is in his fourth season as the Flyers’ assistant women’s volleyball coach, however, McNeil will be in his first season as a full-time coach. Previously, he served as a graduate assistant, but his new duties will also include working as an assistant coach for the 2003 National Champion men’s volleyball team.

McNeil’s duties include devloping workout programs for team conditioning, scouting opponents, and opponent and team film review. He is also in charge of the individual skills workouts, and has begun to take on a larger role in recruiting and high school scouting.

McNeil posted a .287 career hitting percentage at Lewis. He hit .312 and earned the team’s Kiraly Leadership Award in 1998, when the Flyers won the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association title and played in their second NCAA Championship.

McNeil came to Lewis from Ryerson Polytechnical University in Toronto, where he received the volleyball team’s Most Valuable Player award and the school’s Male Athlete of the Year award in 1997. He was a member of the Ontario provincial team and garnered a spot on the provincial all-star team in 1991, and he was a two-time Most Valuable Player at Laurier High School.

McNeil, who majored in liberal arts with minors in marketing and athletic training, completed work on his bachelor’s degree in 2002 and is taking graduate courses at Lewis.
