ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The No. 15 Lewis University men's volleyball team had 10 players selected to the 2008 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Academic All-Conference team. The Flyers receiving the honor were seniors Jared Dayton, David Kyner, juniors Tom Garvey, Nick Perakes, Alex Vigansky, sophomores Mike Iandolo, Nathan Klaas, freshmen Aaron Flick, Andy Frontz and Brian Schmidt. Lewis had the second most selections of any school in the conference. Ohio State led with 14 on the list. A total of 62 players throughout the MIVA earned recognition. To be eligible for MIVA Academic All-Conference, athletes must have achieved a career 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale after the completion of the fall semester at their respective institutions. The Flyers host Mercyhurst in a MIVA Tournament First Round match this Friday at 7 p.m. The match will be webcasted on www.LewisFlyers.com if you cannot make it out to Neil Carey Arena. A victory would advance Lewis to the MIVA Semifinals on April 24, held at No. 1 seed Ohio State. |
