MARION, Ill. - Lewis University juniors Jamie Siedlaczek and Amy Sachs each placed in the top 12 to lead the Flyers to a sixth-place finish, Monday at the Midwest Shootout at Kokopelli Country Club. Siedlaczek (80-80=160) led Lewis for a third time this fall, finishing tied for fifth in the 80-golfer field. She finished 10 strokes behind tournament champion Kristi Piepenbrink (74-76=150) of Indianapolis. After an opening round of 87, Sachs came back with a final-round 79 to total 166 and finish tied for 11th overall. Her 79 was the Flyers' top round of the tournament and just three strokes off her season best. Freshman Teresa Sandri (87-89=176) finished 36th; sophomore Carly Keeler (93-86=179) and freshman Courtney Everett (93-86=179) tied for 42nd; and senior Vanessa Nomura (92-91=183) tied for 54th place. The Flyers (346-334=680) were one of 12 Great Lakes Valley Conference teams participating in the 13-team field. Lewis topped conference foes Bellarmine (687), Missouri-St. Louis (689), Rockhurst (689), Quincy (728), Kentucky Wesleyan (732) and St. Joseph's (768) in the final standings. Northern Kentucky (643) took first. The Flyers conclude the fall season at the Missouri-St. Louis Invitational on Oct. 8-9. |
