ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University junior midfielder Courtney Kettel has been selected to the women's soccer District 5 College Division All-Academic third team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Academic All-District teams are chosen by CoSIDA members and sponsored by ESPN The Magazine. District 5 covers Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota, and the College Division is comprised of student athletes from NCAA Division II and III and the NAIA. A business administration major, Kettel made the Deans' List in each of her first four semesters at Lewis. Following her freshman and sophomore seasons she was named to the Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference team and received the Lewis' Delahanty Award for academic excellence among student athletes. On the field Kettel's team-high nine goals tied her for fourth in the GLVC. She also notched two assists for 20 points during the season. Kettel registered a team-high three game winning goals. Last week Kettel was named to the All-GLVC third team. To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, a student athlete must have reached sophomore eligibility, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher and be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials. The Flyers finished the 2007 season with a 6-11-1 (4-8-1 GLVC) record. It marked Lewis' most conference victories since 1999 and tied for the most overall victories since 2000. |
