ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University senior Allison Schmitz is ranked eighth in the region among singles competitors in the first ITA NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region women's tennis poll of the 2007-08 season.

Schmitz turned in a solid fall season, competing in three events. She opened the fall season by turning in Lewis' best ITA regional performance since 2004l, winning four matches before bowing out one win short of the championship match.

Schmitz took first in the No. 1 singles flight at Upper Iowa, and she followed that with a second-place showing in Flight A at the second annual Hinds-Kellogg Classic on the campus of Western Illinois.

The ITA's regional rankings come out once in the fall and then bi-weekly beginning next March. Lewis is idle until February.
