Freshman Lauren Seliga

Player Diary - Lauren Seliga

Oct. 1, 2007

This weekend we played Rockhurst and Drury and they were both really fun games. We traveled for five hours the first night on the way to Drury and had an amazing home-cooked meal at Sara's house. Her mom even had little cakes that had Lewis written on them that were very cute. The next day we drove another two hours to play Drury. The first game we killed them 30 to 20 and it seemed like it would be an easy match, but the second game was much closer and they made it much harder for us to put down balls by picking up their defense. The third game we were behind in the beginning but stayed with them the whole game. In the end it was a close win in the third game 31-29. Overall it was a fun game against a good team who adjusted well. That night we went to Olive Garden and had another amazing dinner.

Our bigger challenge of the week was next in our game against Rockhurst on Saturday. The first and second games we lost because we weren't clicking well. After the first two games we finally got our act together and beat them the third game and didn't look back from there. Everything was on in the last three games, our defense was amazing and working harder than ever and Kim was unstoppable at the net with over ten kills in one game! It must have been really disappointing for Rockhurst to lose after winning the first two games. Saturday was a great win for the Flyers and it showed that we don't just give up on anything. In my opinion it was one of the most fun weekends of the season despite spending 18 hours on the bus.
